Dearest Barb and family, please know I send my love and prayers to you all. Chuck graced the lives of everyone he ever touched. His smile and kindness, his sense of humor, his true love of nature and for people made him such a good man, such a wonderful human being. We were all better to have had him in our live for what felt like such a brief time. He was a very special gift. Bless you all and may you know that the entire community grieves with you, and embrace’s you.
May you walk through life wrapped in his love and go forward to enjoy and flourish in what he, I’m sure, would have wanted for you all….to enjoy your lives and to love each day ahead, to embrace each and every moment, because that is what he would have done.

Chuck aka “Fetchem” was a great friend and mentor to me. He always brought a bright light of kindness and service to others. I enjoyed working with him here at the Redstone Fire Station; he was always encouraging to me and an inspiration to this Department. His unlimited energy with the many Redstone Community Activities, especially the 4th of July, Redstone Water Board and the Redstone Sled Dog Races, these were his passion.
I have missed him over these last few years due to his illness. I know Barb that your spirit and caregiving gave him love and joy. I am glad he is at peace. I send you prayers and love and know the Redstone community will always remember him.

Roger and I send to our love and sympathy. Chuck was such a sweetheart. My granddaughter, Zoe who was 4 yrs old then, remembers very well 3 years ago when Chuck came with other emergency workers after she fell onto rocks. Her head was bleeding, she was crying hard. Chuck picked her up and talked to her for awhile. She was so much better then. Everytime she was in town and we saw Chuck, she wanted him to hold her. He was so gentle and kind to her and us. Barb, my heart is with you, having lost a husband of many years. You and Chuck were faces in the neighborhood that I was always happy to see. Love to you and your family.

Our friend Chuck was the epitome of “the true gentleman whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control
is equal in all emergencies . . . who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe.” May our sense of sorrow be tempered by inspiration.
