Betty Armantrout was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Carl (Pete) and Ethel Lohr (nee Haughton). She and her sister Doris were 18 months apart in age and never apart in spirit. Arthur L. Armantrout swept her off her feet at the Steel Mill where her father worked, and where she was a secretary. They were married on the 3rd Saturday after they met. Art died in 1975. Betty worked until she was 76 years old. She was a secretary, a bank personnel manager, gallery sales manager, and the Director of the Taos, N.M. Chamber of Commerce during the founding of the Taos Fall Arts Festival. She retired to Green Valley, AZ, and kept working part time. Betty was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and vascular dementia in 2005. She moved to Colorado in 2008 and was cared for by many wonderful people. She made friends wherever she landed. Betty is survived by her daughter Linda and Linda’s partner, Cynthia Bargman, of Louisville, Colorado. Also survived by loved ones, Niece, Marcia Glessner(Jake), Great Niece, Dody Crockett(Kevin), Glen Rock, PA, Great Nephew, Sean Glessner (Amanda), Great Great Niece, Shawna Rae.
