Phyllis passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by the love of her entire family on February 25, 2016, at the age of 91. Phyllis was well known for her positive, happy and fun spirit, as well as her beautiful and easy smile.

Phyllis and Bob Anderson celebrated their 70th anniversary on August 18, 2015. Their marriage was filled with laughter, love, and friendship. They have three children, Robb (Linda), Karyn (Dave) and Kristin (Bill); five grandchildren, Bryan (Meagan), Erik (Christina), Laura (Mike), Kyle (Jamie), Oliver; and six great grandchildren Cora, Wyatt, Eugene, Crosby, Samantha, and Dylan and two more on the way due this summer. Phyllis was beloved by all.

Phyllis was born in Newfolden, Minnesota on April 23, 1924. She was active in band, choir, and sports in high school and graduated in 1942. After high school, Phyllis moved to Minneapolis and worked as a secretary in a defense plant. There she met Lt. Robert Anderson USMC who was stationed at the US Navy Air Station in Minneapolis.

Robert was transferred to US Naval Air Station Bunker Hill, Indiana near Kokomo. They were married there in August 1945.

This was the beginning of many moves and many happy homes together including Oahu, Hawaii where their son Robb was born. Oldest daughter, Karyn, was born in Quantico, Virginia while they were stationed there, and youngest daughter, Kristin, was born in California, while Robert was serving in Korea. The young family of five then moved back across the country and were stationed at another Marine Air Station at Cherry Point, North Carolina. They eventually lived in many happy homes around our country including Hawaii, California, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, Florida, and Minnesota.

During all this moving and raising children, Phyllis developed into an excellent golfer. She won the Ladies Golf Club Championships at all the Air Bases where the Andersons were stationed.

After Robert retired from the Marine Corps, they moved to Denver, Colorado and he was employed by United Airlines. Phyllis continued her golf wins and also began a very successful career in Real Estate.

Phyllis, Bob and family enjoyed their lovely summer lake home in Park Rapids, Minnesota for many years. Boating, golfing, fishing, and enjoying life with dear friends and family made their lake home a delightful and fun hub of activity.

Phyllis’ spirit will continue to bless and surround us with her warmth, love, and joy. We will always remember her smile and happy spirit.
