“What we leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others! Raymond Richard Ahls was 83 and he resided in Denver, Colorado at time of death on November 8, 2013. Raymond was born on September 18, 1930 in Herrin Illinois, to Andrew Ahls and Ollie Jane Hunt (Ahls). His father Andrew was a coal miner, and his mother Ollie was a housewife and he grew up in Illinois with his parents and siblings. He entered into active service in 1948 and served as a Corporal in the regular army for three years when he was Honorably Discharged in 1952. During that time he received an Occ Medal for his services in Germany. He met his wife Vesta L Russell (Ahls) in 1952, and married her in 1954. He and Vesta moved to Denver, Colorado in 1954 where he worked for The Gates Rubber Company as a Truck Driver and retired in 1991. He was the all-time jokester, (which has rubbed off on his children), and would love to laugh and love to embarrass anyone that would be unknown to his wiley ways. And he never met a lawn mower he could not fix! He was loved by all that crossed his path, and in return he was filled with that love, and handed that love right back. He will be missed by body only, because he will always be in our hearts, and in our memories. LOVE YOU ALWAYS, my Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and always our friend!! SURVIVED BY WIFE: Vesta Ahls Colorado, CHILDREN: Lynn Rae Ahls Illinois, Darla Ahls Colorado, and Kenneth Ahls (Michelle) Colorado, GRANDCHILDREN: Rebecca Guillet (Jason) New Mexico, Danielle Bealer New York, Cody Ahls (Danica) Colorado, Brittany Bealer Colorado, and Sarah Ahls Illinois, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Vivianne and Evan Guillet New Mexico, SISTERS: Margurite Whitfield Indiana, and Helen Russell Illinois, and Numerous nieces and nephews. SERVICE: The service will be on Thursday, November 21st, at 1:30 PM at the Fort Logan National Cemetery. We will be meeting at Staging Area B, about 10 minutes before that so that everyone can drive over to the service pavilion together. Enter at the 1st south on Sheridan. RECEPTION: Following the service the family would like to invite any and all to the Golden Corral for Supper, located at 3677 S. Santa Fe in Englewood.
