Aunt Ruth’s smile remains in my heart and memories. She remained loving and dignified to the end. She also was a good friend with a great sense of humor. Miss her already.

What a beautiful tribute. Ruth & Gene were champions in many ways as I knew & have just learned. I really got to know Aunt Ruth when I attended Adams State College (1970-1972). I spent as much time as possible visiting them & Aunt Katherine. I hiked, bird watched and learned to look at the stars. Aunt Ruth was very talented and creative. I loved her very much & shall miss her. I did see a song bird on 12/12/12 & know she is with us. Kathy Olsen, niece

Thank you Margie for all you’ve done for Ruth over the years. The obituary you wrote educated me on things about Ruth – and Gene – I’d never known. I wish I’d been aware of their humanitarian work as that’s very meaningful to me. I suppose my draw to live on Kauai where I’ve been since 1989 owes at least in some part its first dream to hearing about their adventures here. She was quite a character and obviously one of those people about who it’s said that there is “more than meets the eye…”
